Who is Indy Encore?
Indy Encore is a Central Indiana nonprofit organization that provides resources, social connections, and pathways for individuals aged 50 and over to explore and activate their next chapter.
What does Indy Encore do?
Indy Encore plays an important role in supporting and empowering individuals to continue making meaningful contributions to society.
People over 50 represent 26% of Central Indiana's population and are the fastest growing, healthiest and most educated demographic segment. Indy Encore's purpose sits at the intersection of self-purpose and civic engagement. Over 4.5 million Americans in this age group are undertaking encore roles, remaining engaged in lifelong learning, and contributing to their communities.
When did Indy Encore launch?
The volunteer-driven organization began with a community listening session hosted by WFYI in spring 2023. Participants' feedback confirmed that people had an intense desire to continue growing and contributing to society. Futhermore, the event reaffirmed the need for an organization to serve as a connector, convener, currator, and clearinghouse of resources for active-agers.
Indy Encore was founded with the aim of providing opportunities for individuals who were transitioning from their primary careers and who seek meaningful opportunities.
